How to use the template

Enter your starting balance
Open the Excel file and type your current account balance into the highlighted starting balance cell. For the PDF, write it on the first Balance line.

Log every transaction as it happens
Add the date, a description, and the amount — withdrawals in the Withdrawal column, deposits in Deposit. Don't wait for the bank statement; record it when you spend it.

Let the balance update
The Excel template recalculates the Balance column for you. On paper, subtract withdrawals and add deposits line by line.

Reconcile monthly
When your bank statement arrives, tick off every transaction that cleared. If your running balance and the statement agree, you're balanced.
